Our comments today build on our written submissions and 2014 written and oral presentations. As we began our submission in 2014, today we reiterate the importance of this Honourable House recognising that laws are neither made nor implemented in a vacuum.
Every law is intended to make a specific impact on society. The philosophy or motivation behind our laws should be consistent with what we desire to be our national identity, objectives for national development and commonly held values. If Vision 2030 is the desired destination, that of making Jamaica the place to live, work, raise families and do business, our laws and policies ought to move us in that direction.

Judgment by Justice Laing on accepting the application by the JCHS, LCF, Hear the Children's Cry and the Churches (Jamaica Association of Evangelicals, Ethiopian Orthodox Church, Independent Churches, Holiness Christian Church, Christian Brethren Assemblies Jamaica, Jamaica CAUSE and the Love March Movement. The Public Defender's request was denied. She indicated her intention to appeal.
